The present educational case study aims to offer practicing urologists a more realistic and practical approach to the management of men who complain of LUTS and concomitant erectile dysfunction (ED). Assessment and medical management of these patients will be presented and analyzed. Special attention will be paid to the application of the ICUD and EAU Guidelines on management of male LUTS in daily practice.
Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant should be able to:
- Explain the rationale and conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with suspected LUTS
- Identify men at risk for clinical progression of BPH
- Evaluate and manage patients with co-existing LUTS and ED conditions
- Choose the appropriate treatment for patients with LUTS based on the findings from the patient evaluation, as well as the efficacy and safety profile of the different pharmacological agents, including their effects on sexual function
